A new company built on old-fashioned habits
Answer the phone. Show up when you said. Charge what you quoted. It shouldn’t be a competitive advantage in this trade — but here we are.
We'd rather tell you we're new than pretend otherwise
Zappy Electric Co. is a newly licensed residential electrical contractor based in Fort Collins. That’s the honest headline, and we lead with it because you’ll find out anyway.
Getting licensed in Colorado is not a weekend course. It takes years of documented field hours under a licensed contractor and a state exam that a lot of people fail the first time. By the time someone hangs their own shingle, they’ve already wired hundreds of homes — just under someone else’s name.
What’s new is the company, not the hands. And a new company has to earn every single review, which turns out to be a pretty good incentive structure for you.
Why hiring the new company can work in your favor
Not always the right call. But here’s the actual case, without the spin.
Current code, not 2004 code
We tested on the code cycle in force right now. AFCI requirements, EV load calculations and surge protection rules have all changed recently, and plenty of long-time electricians are still working from memory.
You get the owner
The person who quotes your job is the person who does your job and the person who answers when you call back six months later. Nothing gets lost between a dispatcher and a subcontractor.
Your job isn't job forty-one
We're not stacking six calls a day and rushing yours to get to the next one. That's the single biggest reason trade work gets done badly, and it's a problem we don't have yet.
Five things we won't compromise on
- We pull permits — even when nobody would know. Unpermitted work becomes your problem at closing, not ours.
- We quote flat, in writing — no hourly meter, no "we'll see what we find."
- We label everything — every breaker, clearly, so the next person can find the right one.
- We clean up — drop cloths, shoe covers, debris hauled away.
- We say no — if you don't need the upgrade, we'll tell you.
